ME ME
Definitely my favorite Anjunabeats release since 2011! I remember hearing the original edits the day they debuted on Anjuna's main channel, then instantly purchasing the full EP so that I could get my hands on the Extended Mixes. Two years later, and it's still one of my most played EPs!"Show You", the opening track featuring the vocals of Tommy Murphy, is the one that most people are aware of. It instantly sets the strong summer vibes that permeate the rest of the EP. Soft pads and drum lines, along with a very "airy" sound structure, really add on to this atmosphere. Tommy Murphy's vocals also do the catchy, refreshing melody full justice. Overall, it's a very relaxing track, though it still has a subtle energetic feel to it for anyone who feels like grovin'. A definite 5/5 for me! (The Club Mix of this track is also pretty solid, but it forgoes the original's relaxing, soft feel for a much more club-oriented one. Still not a bad track, but not quite as much a standout as the original. I give it a 4/5). The second track in the EP, "Inspire", managed to make its way into Anjunabeats Volume 13. Though not the absolutely best track in the EP, it still fully deserved to make its way into Anjunabeat's 2017 Volume. Jaytech went for a very mellow, chill feel for this one, with no flashy drops or pronounced basslines of any sort. It follows suite with the summer vibes of "Show You", with an airy recording sound and softer sound samples overall, though it commits much more to the "relaxing" vibe. This one also gets a 5/5 from me.And, last but not least, we have my favorite track from this EP, "Haymaker". This track didn't really appear anywhere noticeable outside of this EP, seemingly having slipped under the radar. I think it deserves a lot of attention for being one of the most fun, bouncy and inspiring tracks Anjunabeats has ever put out. Very simple melody and overall structure, but it still manages to make me feel like dancing every time I hear it (and I don't listen to this type of music for the dancing bit much)! It takes the summer vibes of the previous two tracks, kicks up the energy a notch, and just goes all out with it's chipper, bouncy sounds. The breakdown particularly, as well as the main part of the song post-drop, is one of the most joyful, good-feelin' chunk of sound that I've had the pleasure of hearing. This song will never get old for me - a real trip of pure, simple joy every time I hear it! A definite 5/5!Overall... I just love this EP. I believe that Anjunabeats threw away a lot of amazing sounds during their transition to "Trance 2.0" back in 2011, and since then, though they have still put out many good tracks, there's been few that I've found to be that amazing. This EP rose above that. It has such a pure, unique sound that feels so legitimate and pleasurable, one that'll never get old for me. And who doesn't like some chill summer vibes in their tracklist every now and then! For me, this is definitely the best Anjunabeats release in recent times, and definitely it's in the upper echelons of their best release overall. Sweepingly, the "Show You" EP gets a 5/5 from me. It'll always have a special place in my heart!
