The electronic music group Tangerine Dream has released more than one hundred albums, singles, EPs and compilations since the group was formed in 1967. Tangerine Dream's releases have been divided into several eras based on the record label of the time. Tangerine Dream's first releases were on the Ohr label.

At the height of their success - during the mid to late 1970s - the Dream's spacey, pulsing music earned them a tenacious cult following. By the late Seventies, however, line-ups, and more importantly, the formula changed, tilting towards more conventional "rock" music. By the early 1980s, TD was primarily releasing influential soundtrack work, before settling into New Age content by mid-decade.

Biography by John Bush. German purveyors of imaginative electronic music who pioneered the new age of popular ambient and electronica.

Franke joined Tangerine Dream in 1970 after serving time in the group Agitation Free, originally to replace Schulze as the drummer.

One of Tangerine Dream's finest early albums, Zeit was enthusiastically championed in the UK by DJ John Peel and was the group's major breakthrough. Atem, released in 1973, was the band's last release on the Ohr label and heralded the beginning of Tangerine Dream's wider international acclaim. Atem enjoyed success outside of Germany and eventually led to the group signing to the newly formed Virgin label later in 1973.
