Description

tours start up this June!

Brian Wilson is the debut studio album by Brian Wilson released in July 1988 on Sire Records. It was voted one of the best albums of 1988 by NME, and as part of its acclaim, garnered the nickname "Pet Sounds '88" among some critics  . Brian’s speech was so wonderfully sweet. I remember thinking, "My God, maybe there can be more stuff like he used to d. aybe he should do a record. It was clear that Brian was on the way back; this wasn't the Brian Wilson of the 'Brian's Back' hype of 1976. when I was just starting out as a producer, and Brian was working with my good friend Van Dyke Parks. I loved the things they were working on, like "Heroes and Villains" and "Cabin Essence".

PLAYBACK: THE BRIAN WILSON ANTHOLOGY includes a selection of classic photos from throughout Wilson's solo career, in addition to a candid shot taken in the studio in 2017 during the recording of "Run James Ru. The album also includes liner notes by David Wild, and features a previously unseen picture of Wilson on the front cover, taken by legendary rock photographer Robert Matheu. This week in 1974, the classic Beach Boys compilation "Endless Summer" was released. The album shot to going multi-platinum, attracting a new generation of fans.

The real Brian Wilson would never homogenize his music to sound exactly like every other song on the radio, they complained. In an article for Rolling Stone, Jason Fine called the album "little evidence of Brian's creative spark. Though he contributes some of his finest vocals - especially on two ballads, 'Cry' and 'Lay Down Burden' - the album's saccharine soft rock doesn't hint at the subtle magic of a classic Brian Wilson production.

Brian Douglas Wilson (born June 20, 1942 in Inglewood, California) is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and musician, best known for being the principal songwriter and co-lead singer for The Beach Boys, co-founded with brothers Carl and Dennis. Once known for his iconic falsetto, much of Brian's most well-known work is tinged with melancholy and existentialism.
