Hail to the King is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. Hail to the King is the first and only Avenged Sevenfold album to feature Arin Ilejay on drums, prior to his departure in July 2015.

Hail to the King was Avenged Sevenfold's sixth album. This is the band's first album without any contribution from drummer The Rev. Every member of the band, however, has stated that James "The Rev" Sullivan still influences their art to this day. Arin Ilejay had officially replaced Jimmy Sullivan as the new drummer of Avenged Sevenfold in August of 2013. This album was released on August 27, 2013. However, "Hail to The King" found Avenged Sevenfold returning to writing metal lyrics. Vocalist M. Shadows told Kerrang! magazine: It's just cool storytelling. We got back to what we wanted the band to be in the first place, which is more fun. I don't think metal should take itself too seriously. From the off, ‘Shepherd of Fire’ sounds more polished and grand. It takes less than two and a half minutes for Synyster Gates to show his chops on the guitar. When listening to the opening track, it’s hard not to think it sounds like ‘Enter Sandman. With this album, Avenged Sevenfold have graduated to a new, impressive level. It would be easy to say that they are older and more mature, but that would be a lazy observation.
