Cabell "Cab" Calloway III (December 25, 1907 – November 18, 1994) was a jazz singer, bandleader, composer and actor.

Jazz Heritage: Mr. Hi-De-Ho (1930-1931). This LP from MCA's Jazz Heritage series of the early '80s gives listeners a sampling of Cab Calloway's early recordings. Sixteen of his best performances from 1930-1931 are here, including "St. Louis Blues," "Nobody's Sweetheart," a classic version of "St. James Infirmary," "Bugle Call Rag," "Kickin' the Gong Around," "Trickeration" and the original recording of "Minnie the Moocher. In 1930 Calloway led the band The Missourians, which became known as Cab Calloway and His Orchestra. At the Cotton Club in Harlem, New York, the band was hired in 1931 to substitute for the Duke Ellington Orchestra while it was touring. The band's popularity led to sharing the role of house band with Ellington. It performed twice on week for radio broadcasts on NBC. Calloway appeared on radio programs with Walter Winchell and Bing Crosby. In 1931 Calloway recorded his most famous song, "Minnie the Moocher". Hi-De-Ho: The Life of Cab Calloway.
