Veteran trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton is heard throughout this session in particularly enthusiastic form. The music is essentially swing-based mainstream jazz with touches of Dixieland in some of the ensembles. Lyttelton and his impressive sidemen (altoist Bruce Turner who doubles on clarinet, trombonist Roy Williams, Johnny Barnes on baritone, tenor and clarinet, pianist Mick Pyne, who plays cornet on one song, bassist Dave Green and drummer Mike Paxton) perform a variety of high-quality standards and two originals.

Humphrey Richard Adeane Lyttelton (23 May 1921 – 25 April 2008), also known as Humph, was an English jazz musician and broadcaster from the aristocratic Lyttelton family.
