Last Exit to Garageland is the debut album of New Zealand band Garageland, released in June 1996 on Flying Nun Records. The album was reissued in the UK on Discordant Records in September 1997, and in the US on Foodchain Records in September 1997

One of the handiest in the confusing welter of singles that appeared for Garageland, Special Come Back (titled in humorous reference to the band's original Come Back Special debut) compiles a variety of B-sides from hither and yon. There's also the brilliant lead track itself, with its inspiring, charging chorus and gentle, almost but not quite diffident chorus - there are audible echoes of the Pixies in the arrangement, but Garageland sugars the pill just enough

Given how many contemporaneous EPs by the quartet had overlapping track listings with this album, in all of its various forms, it's almost more accurate to call Last Exit to Garageland a best-of compilation than a stand-alone release. However one wants to consider it, Last Exit is pretty darn brilliant, an enthusiastic, sharp collection of punk-pop indie songs that find their own approach
