The Kinsey Report is a Gary, Indiana based band, established in 1984 by the brothers Donald, Ralph, and Kenneth Kinsey, plus a family friend, Ron Prince. As Big Daddy Kinsey and the Kinsey Report, they effectively backed their father, Big Daddy Kinsey. Lester Davenport played harmonica with the group. The Kinsey Report's father was instrumental in steering his offspring towards the blues.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm). Kinsey Report Format: Vinyl. Midnight Drive by the Kinsey Report is my first introduction to this group and a very solid introduction it has been. I am not very involved in the "Chicago Blues" scene but know enough about music to know it exists and know what Alligator Records is. This is a very fine effort by the group with some exceptionally high points. The album,recorded in 1989, was never one of their very best, but with the passing of time it hasn't aged well. Much of the material that they were writing was labored and relied heavily on the guitar interplay between Donald Kinsey and Ron Prince. The best self written tracks here are "Midnight Drive", "Get outta here" and "Big Time". The latter has Stephen Dawson on keyboards which adds an interesting texture to the track.
