Somewhere there's music How faint the tune Somewhere there's heaven There is no moon above When love is far away too Till it comes true That you love me as I love you. Somewhere there's music How near, how far Somewhere there's heaven It's where you are The darkest night would shine If you would come to me soon Until you will, how still my heart. How High the Moon" is a jazz standard with lyrics by Nancy Hamilton and music by Morgan Lewis. It was first featured in the 1940 Broadway revue Two for the Show, where it was sung by Alfred Drake and Frances Comstock. In Two for the Show, this was a rare serious moment in an otherwise humorous revue. The earliest recorded hit version was by Benny Goodman & His Orchestra, featuring vocalist Helen Forrest.
