So there's no shortage of experience here. If anything, Barry and Barre sometimes give us just a tad too much: at a whisker under 76 minutes, there's an enormous amount of bass food for thought here, with all aspects of the instruments explored, itemised and expounded in the course on intense, virtuoso dialogue. Yet the music has a soothing subtext too. for all its formidable and packed structure. The sonority of the bass is never neglected.

Barry John Guy (born 22 April 1947, in London) is a British composer and double bass player. His range of interests encompasses early music, contemporary composition, jazz and improvisation, and he has worked with a wide variety of orchestras in the UK and Europe.
