Judy Collins made the first commercially released recording of the song, shortly after Mitchell wrote it, first including it on her 1967 Wildflowers album. In October 1968 she released it as a single. In December it reached on the . pop singles charts, and in early 1969 won a Grammy Award for Best Folk Performance.

Days of the New (also known as the Orange or Yellow album) is the debut album of alternative rock band Days of the New, and the first of their three self-titled albums. The album was released in 1997 through Outpost Records. The band recorded its debut album in October and November 1996 at Woodland Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Drummer Matt Taul was called away from the studio during the sessions for the birth of his daughter, so session drummer Adam Turgeon filled in on some tracks.

Dixie" Dave Collins joined his first major band in 1997 playing bass for Buzzov,en. When Buzzov en folded in the late 1990's, Dixie started focusing more on the side project that he had created in 1998, Weedeater where he performs bass as well as lead vocals. After two releases and touring, Dixie joined Bongzilla, and recorded bass on their fourth full length release "Amerijuanican". In 2006, he formed Hail!Hornet with Erik Larson, Vince Burke, and Troy Medlin
