It's About Time is the ninth studio album by the American band Chic released on September 28, 2018 through Virgin EMI Records. It was written and conducted by Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers. The lead single, "Till the World Falls", featuring Mura Masa, Cosha and Vic Mensa, was released on June 22, 2018. According to Rodgers, It's About Time is the first of two albums that make up the "new Chic experience".

M This is not a normal album!!! Itʼs a DAM (Digital Album Movie). My album is titled, Itʼs About . the double entendre. I haven't released a solo album in so long that itʼs about time I do! . an acronym that stands for The Illest Man Ever. It's the story of my life. There are three young actors that play the evolution of STICKY FINGAZ. All of the kids look like me and had to shave their heads bald to get the part. The run-time of my DAM is about 30 minutes. NOTTZ RAW produced all the music for the movie portion of the album.

He amplifies his legacy by constantly traversing new musical terrain and successfully expanding the boundaries of popular music. When I first came up with the concept for the first Chic album cover more than 40 years ago it was a deliberate statement that we could all be abundant, we could all be with the beautiful people, we could all be included, we could all have good times. Looking at the world today for the release of It’s About Time I felt that it was important to make those statements again for a new generation Nile explains.

For the cover of Chic's debut, Rodgers explained, we thought we could get supermodels on our cover to basically the concept of Chic, to say that we were going back in time to a period where music was all about the underclass coming up. It was all about Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. It was all about the prohibition era and the era of the big jazz bands.

It’s About Time’ – the band’s first new album in over 25 years – he shows no signs of ageing gracefully; he’s still well up for a big hoedown. I Dance My Dance’, ‘Do You Wanna Dance’ and, er, ‘Dance Wiv Me’ sent the tone for a record that makes no attempt to reinvent the wheel, nor dares to stray from his patented disco guitar ‘chuck-chucka’. Knowing his limits/legacy makes for a more enjoyable listen. Over the past few years, Rodgers has had to overcome with several health issues – including prostate cancer – so hearing him in back in the recording booth is a triumph in itself.

It's Album Time is, as advertised, disco producer Todd Terje's first full-length album, and its title sets the tone: casual, confident, and unburdened by the imagined need for significance that scares so many good dance producers into losing their cool when given a bigger platform. Terje is a careful artist that's fluent in history, an expert with texture, and possessing a grasp on composition more akin to a 1960s film composer than a contemporary dance producer.
