Here Sutherland transforms the Palmeresque evocation of an Arcadian idyll into a more pagan image, replacing traditional Christian symbolism with animistic forces. The sense of brooding drama seen here was developed in Sutherland's landscape paintings of the late 1930s and early 1940s.

In 1991, Jean-Paul Loyer and André Marchand released Détournement Majeur, a collection of instrumental music played on the guitar featuring traditional tunes from Quebec as well as compositions by the two members of the duo. American t Pete Sutherland was invited to build arrangements around the guitar tracks, while always keeping them as the focus. Jean-Paul Gaultier (French: ; born 24 April 1952) is a French haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion designer who, in 1982, founded his eponymous fashion label.
