FOPP nominates an „Album of the Week and sometimes give some promotional extra with it. In this case it was an extra CD-Ep with two alternative tracks. Its sold out and is out of print.

This is my first Lambchop album, and I am extremely eager to explore the rest of their catalog. Lambchop began in the 1990s, at the time pronouncing itself Nashville’s most fucked-up country band. Provocative it may have been, but the description made sense: at the heart of all that ruckus was a band at once defying and embracing the musical legacy of its hometown.

FLOTUS fits surprisingly neatly into Lambchop’s catalog, capturing what makes this band so special and hinting at new directions it might take in its next two decades. As the album progresses, it becomes apparent Lambchop are keen to evolve and take risks, 30 years into their career. The delicate alt-country never fully rescinds, but Wagner’s vocals take on another dimension entirely.

Lambchop once cheerfully described themselves as "Nashville's most f-ked-up country band," but FLOTUS betrays not the slightest country influence.

So while FLOTUS, the band’s Vocoder-drenched, largely electronic new album, might initially feel like a shock, the reinvention is not entirely unprecedented

As a result it's difficult to pick 'FLOTUS' apart as it very much hangs together as a single piece; it's only after repeat listens that some particularly sublime moments start to emerge from the foggy whole. Many of these arrive late in the track list, buried within the delicious layering of 'NIV' or scattered across the sprawling multi part majesty of the 18 minute long 'The Hustle'
