Giacomo Meyerbeer: Dinorah. German opera composer Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864) is considered by many to be the most successful stage composer of the nineteenth century. His compositional style merged Italian vocal tradition with German orchestral style. His opera Dinorah is a French opera comique in three acts which premiered in 1859. The story is based on two stories by Emile Souvestre, Le Kacouss de lArmor, and La Chasse aux tresors. This production features Der Chor der Deutschen Oper Berlin and Das Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin.

Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864) was in many ways the most successful operatic composer of his era. A rival to Rossini in the 1820s, he went on to become synonymous with the extravagant splendours of Parisian grand opéra and a major influence on French composers and the two titans of Romantic opera, Verdi and Wagner. Accompanying Diana Damrau are the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra national de Lyon and the conductor Emmanuel Villaume. No fewer than three distinguished singers make appearances in supporting roles: mezzo-soprano Kate Aldrich, tenor Charles Workman and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri. Ombre légère Dinorah 8:20. Lebe wohl, geliebte Schwester Therese 6:53 Vielka: Kate Aldrich mezzo-soprano .

Giacomo Meyerbeer (September 5, 1791 – May 2, 1864) was a noted German-born opera composer, and the first great exponent of Grand Opera. Meyerbeer was born to a Jewish family in Tasdorf, near Berlin, Germany with the name Jacob Liebmann Beer. His father was the enormously wealthy financier Jacob Judah Herz Beer (1769-1825) and his much-beloved mother, Amalia Liebmann Meyer Wulff (1767-1854) also came from the wealth.

Meyerbeer: Dinorah ou Le pardon de Ploërmel, Act 2 Scene 3: No. 11, Aria, "Ombre légère qui suis mes pas" (Dinorah). Giacomo Meyerbeer, Natalie Dessay, Patrick Fournillier, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. Giacomo Meyerbeer, Marilyn Horne, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Henry Lewis. 9. Robert le diable (Robert the Devil), Act I: Valse Infernale. Giacomo Meyerbeer, Franz Hawlata, Cologne West German Radio Chorus, Helmut Froschauer. The activity of large, anonymous crowds became his focal point, obliging an entirely new approach to the chorus and giving rise to the thrilling antiphonal explosions of the third-act finale of Les Huguenots and the organ-spiked coronation scene in Le Prophète. To match this musical majesty, Meyerbeer demanded revolutionary advances in stage technology.
