Bachman–Turner Overdrive, often abbreviated as BTO, is a Canadian rock group from Winnipeg, Manitoba, that had a series of hit albums and singles in the 1970s, selling over 7 million albums in that decade alone. Their 1970s catalogue included five Top 40 albums and six US Top 40 singles (eleven in Canada). After the band went into a hiatus in 2005, Randy Bachman and Fred Turner reunited in 2009 to tour and collaborate on a new album. In 2010, they played the halftime show at the Grey Cup in Edmonton and continue to tour as of summer 2014. Chad Allan appeared as a vocalist on two Brave Belt II songs, but left the band shortly after the album's recording.

Brave Belt was a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba originally consisting of Randy Bachman (guitar/vocals), his former The Guess Who bandmate, Chad Allan (vocals/keyboards), and Randy's brother Robbie (drums). Randy also provided bass tracks for the recording of the band's first album, Brave Belt (Reprise Records, 1971). But C. F. "Fred" Turner was added shortly after as bassist for the supporting concerts.

Fred Turner subsequently joined Brave Belt on bass and vocals, resulting in a much heavier sound, which led to the departure of Chad Allan, though Allan still contributed two songs to Brave Belt II in 1972. Left with a three-member line-up, Tim Bachman was added to Brave Belt as the second guitarist. This line-up then signed with Mercury Records in 1973 and changed their name to Bachman–Turner Overdrive, often referred to as "BTO". In 2015, Bachman released Heavy Blues, an album inspired by a love of classic 1960s blues rock and featuring musical contributors including Neil Young, Joe Bonamassa, Peter Frampton, Robert Randolph, and Jeff Healey. In 2018 Randy Bachman Released on March the 2nd an cover tribute album to George Harrison.
