MIXTOUR Mary Halvorson, guitar Hubert Bergmann, piano. Bergmann moves all around the keyboard in cascades and clusters, distantly recalling Keith Tippett’s mesmerizing agitations; Halvorson responds with wounding diagonals and discordant scales – which Robert Fripp post Discipline would approve with a smile – at times twisted by the use of a whammy pedal. Intervals of charming quietness turn up from the sixteenth minute on, the couple slowing down every once in a while as if willing to check at what point they’ve arrived, the waters calming a bit through restful piano chords and a little breathing in between the guitar’s clean lines.

Mary Halvorson is an avant-garde jazz guitarist from Brookline, Massachusetts. She is a 2002 graduate of Wesleyan University. She has performed with Anthony Braxton, Jessica Pavone, Robbie Lee, Taylor Ho Bynum, Trevor Dunn's Trio-Convulsant, Marc Ribot, Susan Alcorn, Yo La Tengo and Weasel Walter. As of 2008, she leads a trio including John Hebert and Ches Smith. She is also associated with violist Jessica Pavone, with whom she has recorded as a duo.

Productions with artists such as : Lajos Dudas, Mary Halvorson, Gilad Atzmon, Jim Franklin and other ensembles, show a variety of his artistic work. Studying in Frankfurt, Main, he moved there, according to the classic studies at the Conservatory into the jazzclass. After various jobs in bands as a pianist and playing the trumpet he simultaneously continued his piano studies with Hans Peter Mohr, followed by teaching piano at a music school.
