Description

Weezer's debut is unquestionably their best album-even better than the sophomore album some fans assert as being superior.

Weezer (also known as the Green Album) is the third studio album by American rock band Weezer, released on May 15, 2001 by Geffen Records. Produced by Ric Ocasek, it was the only album to feature bassist Mikey Welsh, who replaced Matt Sharp. After the disappointing reception for their second album, Pinkerton (1996), Weezer went on hiatus and the band members worked on side projects. During this time, their fanbase grew online and Pinkerton's standing improved

Pinkerton is the second album by the American alternative rock band Weezer, released on September 24, 1996. Rivers Cuomo, the band's lead singer and guitarist, wrote all of its songs after a painful leg surgery; as a result, they were written in first-position on his guitar's fretboard so that he would not have to move too much to play them. Pinkerton is named after the character .

At one point, there seemed as strong a chance of Weezer's making an album as good as Pinkerton as there was of their reissuing it. To say nothing of playing it live in its entirety. It's hard to think of a more fiercely beloved record a band has gone to great lengths to write out of its history. To recap: Weezer's self-titled Blue Album went multiplatinum on the strength of shiny power-pop and goofy videos anachronistic in the era of post-grunge.

Pinkerton is the second studio album by American rock band Weezer, released on September 24, 1996 by DGC Records. After abandoning plans for a rock opera titled Songs from the Black Hole, Weezer recorded the album between songwriter Rivers Cuomo's terms at Harvard University, where he wrote much of the album. It was the last Weezer album to feature bassist Matt Sharp. Pinkerton is named after the character BF Pinkerton from Madama Butterfly, who marries a Japanese woman named Butterfly.

This is real Weezer, not the bull Weezer that came with the new millenium. This and Blue are nearly tied for greatness, in my opinion. Bottom Line, If you like Blue, get Pinkerton. It's a shame this album was shunned by Rivers. I think that if it wasn't killed by critics, then Weezer would not have gone on to make songs like We Are All On Drugs.
