Features Song Lyrics for Rufus & Chaka Khan's Masterjam album.

Arranged By – Chaka KhanWritten-By, Arranged By – Rod Temperton. Even with the monster jams "Do You Love What You Feel" and "Any Love", this is a very lackluster effort by Rufus. I blame this on several factors: One, Chaka Khan was doing very well in her solo career, and being recongnized for it(as well she should). Two: Members of the band were coming and going, and Three: instead of the group producing their own material, Producer Extrodinare, Quincy Jones had that job. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't blame it totally on "Q", I just feel that beyond maybe 4 songs, it just doesn't mesh well.

Masterjam is the platinum-selling eighth studio album by funk band Rufus (and their fifth album with singer Chaka Khan), their debut on the MCA Records label following their purchase and dissolution of ABC Records, released in 1979. Produced by Quincy Jones, Masterjam was the band's fourth album to top Billboard's R&B Albums chart, and also reached number 14 on thePop chart

When Chaka Khan left Rufus in 1978 she became a huge solo success, while her former band floundered with the Chaka-less Numbers. Thankfully, everything was righted when she and Rufus reunited for Masterjam in late 1979. Clearly, the time away helped the group refocus their energy. Jones brought with him songwriter-arranger Rod Temperton, whose Live in Me and Masterjam set the tone. The album resounds with snappy, punchy grooves, beginning with the one-two punch of Do You Love What You Feel and Any Love. The music is rooted in the disco era, but with its slick grooves and candy hooks, the songs point towards the sound of early-'80s R&B. As always, Chaka steals the show, and her irrepressible but highly toned voice is the focal point of every track
