About Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports. Though under his name, Mason was not the writer of either music or lyrics for his first solo album. All music and lyrics were composed by avant-garde jazz musician Carla Bley. Mason did however play on the album, and was the co-producer along with Bley. Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports. Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports is the debut solo studio album by Nick Mason, Pink Floyd’s drummer. Released in May 1981 in the UK and US, this was Mason's first major work outside of Pink Floyd. It is sung by Robert Wyatt, except for the opening song. Side one. Side two. Personnel.
