Description

Gabriel Teodros lets his heart bleed on his solo album, Lovework. His solo album Lovework is considered a masterpiece and one of the tightest albums to ever bless the city who’s Hip Hop scene was once only defined by Sir Mix-A-Lot

Consumer Guide Album. Gabriel Teodros: Lovework "We rock shows, mostly white folks come out," acknowledges twenty-six-year-old Gabriel Teodros toward the end of his solo debut. It's a typical ploy for the Seattle rapper, at once situating him in the underground and, by its candor, raising him a little above it. Teodros pumps a quiet flow over producer Amos Miller's keyboard-based beats-think Toronto's K-Os, only deeper and more swinging.

Gabriel Teodros is a musician and writer from South Seattle who first made a mark with the group Abyssinian Creole, and reached an international audience with his solo debut Lovework. He has been setting stages on fire ever since, all across the US, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Ethiopia and South Africa; often in combination with workshops on creative writing, music, history, science fiction and media literacy  . In 2015, Teodros made his speculative fiction debut with a story published in Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements, and in 2016 he graduated from the Clarion West Writers Workshop for Speculative Fiction. His writing has also been published by The Feminist Wire and Okayafrica. Teodros is currently active as a DJ on KEXP 9. FM in Seattle.

Gabriel Teodros (born 1981), is a hip hop artist and a member of the groups Abyssinian Creole and CopperWire. He was raised on Beacon Hill, Seattle, Washington. Teodros' music often features socially conscious themes, and he was a catalyst in the surge of dynamic underground rap acts from the Pacific Northwest during the first decade of the 2000s. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington to an Ethiopian mother and a father of Scottish, Irish and Native American descent.

Equally at home addressing political repression in East Africa or reflecting on the effects of patriarchy in his relationships, Teodros captures each moment soulfully with his unmistakable (north)west coast delivery. Having already made his mark on the NW hiphop scene, with "Lovework" Gabriel Teodros is poised to drop an underground classic that will bring his sound to a global community.
