WOW 2000 is a compilation album of 30 contemporary Christian music hits and four bonus tracks that was released on October 26, 1999. The album hit No. 29 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1999, and No. 1 on the Top Contemporary Christian chart in both 1999 and 2000. It was certified as double platinum in the US in 2000 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Wow: The 90s: 30 Top Christian Songs of the Decade is an excellent basic survey of CCM in the '90s, collecting 30 of the decade's biggest Christian radio hits over the course of two discs. Longtime CCM fans will probably have some, if not most, of these tracks already, but newcomers to the genre couldn't ask for a much better introduction than Wow: The 90s. Featured artists include Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, dc Talk, Rich Mullins, Jaci Velasquez, Sandi Patty, Steven Curtis Chapman, Newsboys, Point of Grace, Chris Rice, and many more.

Country crossed over in 2000: Faith Hill's "Breathe" was the No. 1 Hot 100 Song of the year, and Lonestar's "Amazed" placed at No. 7. The latter track became the first country song to top the weekly chart (March 4) since 1983. The year's top title on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You," led the weekly chart for 15 weeks, establishing the record for most frames in charge since the tally launched in 1958. Other notable new artists of 2006: Ne-Yo, the Fray and Fergie. Carey is also the only act to appear in the top 20 on the Top Artists lists of the '90s (No. 1) and 2000s (No. 11).
