Glissando was not my thing. which is why 'You' is my least favourite Gong album as it contains lots of it. So, how does '22 Meanings' sound? Well, it's one continuous 4. 0 minute 'piece' of Gliss backed and interspersed with various nomadic beats, avant garde tape collages and gentle drummings and strummings. I'm 27 minutes in and there's some gorgeous guitar interplay between Daevid and Harry putting me more in mind of a languid Pink Floyd than anything broadcast by Radio Gnome. 32 minutes in now and the guitar work is sublime creating a real mood, ambience if you will. I think I'm going to give this album a 2 but there are passages within which warrant a 3 or 4. It's obviously a 'piece' for Daevid Allen completists and those who appreciate his glissando experiments.

Harry Williamson (born 12 May 1950) is a British musician, producer and inventor. Williamson was born in Ilfracombe, North Devon, the son of noted author Henry Williamson and his second wife Christine Duffield. He is divorced, with one daughter, Bee Williamson. He was educated at Exeter Cathedral School under Lionel Frederick Dakers (later head of RSCM), and at Millfield School, Street, Somerset.

He first replied to a newspaper advertisement for a guitar player to join Dover-based group the Rolling Stones (no connection with the later famous band of that name) who had lost singer/guitarist Neil Landon, but did not join them. After meeting up with William S. Burroughs, and inspired by philosophies of Sun Ra, he formed free jazz outfit the Daevid Allen Trio ('Daevid' having been adopted as an affectation of David), which included his landlord's son, 16-year-old Robert Wyatt. Both projects were cut short as the two took part in the 1968 Paris protests which swept the city, handing out teddy bears to the police and reciting poetry in pidgin French. Allen admitted that he was scorned by the other protesters for being a beatnik. 1998: 22 Meanings (with Harry Williamson). 1998: Live in Glastonbury Town (BMO Vol. 11, with Magick Brothers). 1998: Solo @ The Axiom, Cheltenham '98 (BMO Vol. 15).

Daevid Allen Divided Alien Playbax 80 (Charly, 1982). Allen relocated to New York City around 1978, where he once again reconnected with Giorgio Gomelsky, who was looking to break acts like Henry Cow, Magma, and Gong to NYC’s hip and relatively omnivorous art and music connoisseurs. Gomelsky had opened a club/performance space called Zu in downtown NYC during this period, and held the Zu Manifestival in October of 1978
