So much of understanding his work is personal, and so much of it is made up of the process of getting inside the work. The Korean reality TV franchise New Journey to the West (NJW) is an illustrative case to unpack how the Korean media industry has offered viewers transmedia and intertextual experiences in the realm of reality television. Korean reality show directors, who have acknowledged their profoundly reshaped, collaborative, and interdependent relationship with consumers in an era of convergence culture, attempt to fragment everyday realities throughout multiple media texts. Through their practices of curated co-construction, pioneer communities are driving forces in the process of 'deep mediatization' (Couldry & Hepp 2017;Hepp & Hasebrink, 2017): they contribute to the introduction of practices into everyday life that are-initially relatively ensively entangled with the latest digital media technologies.

That’s an apt summation of the music made by Pinhas, Yoshida and Akita, which seethes and roils in a constant state of both turbulent flux and visceral realization. The guitarist says of his collaborators, They explore 100% of their possibility. We have the same kind of spirit. If that’s all too downbeat for an evening’s listening, Pinhas also sees the album as a celebration of his cherished friendship with these Japanese artists. Japan is the best scene in the world, he asserts, and while he foresees a radical change in his sound approaching in 2017, he continues that, Always I will work with my forever friends. released September 16, 2016.
