However, I knew Dirge could top that release. Let me just say, that the band's 3rd effort, "And Shall the Sky Descend", does a very good job of topping it. Dirge are an atmospheric sludge/post metal/"postcore" (I hate that term) band hailing from France (!). Dirge are anything but a Neurosis or Isis clone though. The band incorporates looped ambient sections/spoken bits that seem to dominate the song
