Recording of The Almighty's second studio album, Soul Destruction, began in December 1990 with Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor as producer. The album was released in March 1991 along with the lead single "Free'n'Easy". In February and March the band toured the UK supporting Motörhead and Megadeth. The classic lineup (Ricky, Stump, Floyd and Pete) reformed for benefit shows in January 2006 and then appeared at the 2006 Bulldog Bash. They undertook a short five show tour at the end of December 2006. In 2007, the band released their second compilation album, Anth F in'Ology - the Gospel According to The Almighty, covering their.

Send it to ti. onesopolis. The Almighty - Anth‘f ing’ology: The Gospel According T. he poor man’s Cult stretch excellent EP into long player. Abandoning his crusty roots to try and break America by forming a nofrills hard-rock group, New Model Army’s Ricky Warwick established The Almighty in 1988. He would have been more than aware of the benefits The Cult had reaped by pulling a similar U-turn when they recorded Electric less than a year beforehand. Unfortunately, The Almighty never sounded that comfortable as a straight-up rock band

Scottish hard rockers The Almighty emerged just as the `80s were winding down, and while they might have been loosely tied to the Hollywood hair metal scene, their sound has as much in common with Motorhead and the Cult as it did Guns n' Roses or Motley Crue. The Almighty specialized in brash, high energy, rowdy, bar-ready rock n' roll with catchy hooks, good grooves and plenty of swagger.Sanctuary’s 2-disc 2007 collection Anth'F***'ology - The Gospel According to The Almighty is a fantastic overview of this underrated band's career. The first disc features 17 songs spanning the band's career, starting with the singles from 1989's Blood, Fire & Love and going through to 2001's Psycho-Narco. They do a great job capturing the band's best material as well as showing how the band's sound evolved over time, and the digital remastering is pretty impressive. The second disc is a DVD featuring all 10 of the band's promotional videos. I'd have preferred a disc of b-sides or more album tracks, but this is still a very cool addition. The booklet features tons of band info, rare photos and an essay by Classic Rock Magazine's Dave Ling.If you're not already an Almighty fan, but are a fan of the late `80s hard rock sound (or just high quality hard rock in general), this anthology - sorry, Anth'F***'ology - is the perfect way to see what you've been missing. Like all Sanctuary collections, this is a really well put-together and great sounding collection of music and videos.
