Since the Trains are actually Falling James Moreland and whoever he has with him at the time, it should be noted that this is the wildest cast of cohorts the cross-dressing Moreland has ever had in tow. Featuring bass playing co-writer Chris "Whitey" Sims, all-too-normal drummer Lenny Montoya, and the aptly named MO-Ron Donovan on guitar, the Trains let it all hang out on Lump. Many will find this album infantile at best, and downright offensive at worst, but you've got to give Moreland points for consistency.

This lineup produced the album The Lump in My Forehead (recorded 1992, released 1993), but later in 1992 Chaz Ramirez (also known as a producer of such bands as Social Distortion and Stryper) and Dennis Carlin took over on bass and drums, respectively. Ramirez died on December 2, 1992 (of injuries sustained when an attic floor collapsed underneath him - some of his recordings with the Trains were posthumously released in 1994 on the album The Big Jinx), and Moreland was subsequently kicked out of the group

The Leaving Trains were formed out of sheer boredom and suburban desperation in Los Angeles in the summer of 1980 by Falling James and brothers Manfred and Tom Hofer after their 1978-1979 high school punk band, the Mongrels, broke up. Hunter Crowley was the best drummer on their side of town, and, after much persuasion, he eventually joined.

The confusion stalled recording until 1993, when The Lump in My Forehead appeared on SST, with Sims taking vocals on several cuts. Predictably, that version of the band also disintegrated, replaced by bassist/producer Chaz Ramirez and drummer Dennis Carlin, who began recording 1994's The Big Jinx.
