We Are Scientists chronology. Brain Thrust Mastery (2008). TV en Français (2014). Before recording Brain Thrust Mastery, longtime drummer Michael Tapper left We Are Scientists. For the next few years, the band performed with several interim drummers before settling on Andy Burrows. At the time, Burrows had left his previous band Razorlight, and the two members of We Are Scientists asked him to join the band. Murray said while he and bassist Chris Cain had become great friends through touring, the duo never felt like a true band

Tracklistings come from MusicBrainz. Find out more about our use of this data, and also our policy on profanity. Find out more about our use of this data. Equal parts geek and pop mathematicians, WAS deliver a second album that unfortunately falls way short of their splendid debut. Whether this can be blamed on the departure of drummer Michael Tapper isn't entirely clear. But the remaining duo of keith Murray and Chris Cain while still at ease churning out catchy, riff-driven pop rock are in a far less happy place. Opening track, Ghouls gives you a warning shot with it's repeated refrain of "we all recognise that I'm the problem here". This is an album filled with self-doubt and relationship worries.

Bizarrely and disappointingly, Brain Thrust Mastery proves us wrong, because We Are Scientists seem to have lost their appetite for indie dance-floor destruction. The Weezer-meets-Jimmy Eat World pop-punk of 'Let's See It' and glam stomping of 'Tonight' show WAS are still capable of whittling off roller-coaster guitar anthems on a whim.

Brain Thrust Mastery is the second studio album by We Are Scientists, which was released on March 17, 2008. Upon release, the album charted at in the UK Albums Chart. One of the songs of the album, "Let's See It" was also in an episode of Gossip Girl, Season 3, Episode 20. Brain Thrust Mastery. After Hours" is the first single from We Are Scientists's album Brain Thrust Mastery, released on CD and 7-inch vinyl on March 3, 2008. The music video for the track features actress Katrina Bowden and was directed by Akiva Schaffer. The song made it to number 15 on the UK singles chart making it their highest charting single to date.

We Are Scientists second effort is distinctly mixed. Amongst some of there best tracks lie a few fillers, and even a couple of tracks that I wouldn’t even merit the title of filler to. Beyond this however, is an alright album for, what is a diminished version the band that made With Love and Squalor. We Are Scientists Are: -Keith Murray: Guitar and lead vocals -Chris Cain: Bass Guitar, backing vocals. The drummer on this album is unknown, it’s a possibility that a drum machine could have been used. The drumming on Brain Thrust Mastery is uninspired to say the least. Pretty much the whole album stays in 4/4 time, and the band really miss Tappers off beats and nuances. Another element that does this album no good is the overuse of synths. In their first release a few synthetic beats may have in fact improved the music if used correctly.
