Tankard is a thrash metal band from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, founded in 1982. Along with Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard is often considered one of the "Big Teutonic Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. They released their first record in 1986 and continue to write and record in the same vein: fast metal songs in honour of alcohol. Tankard was formed in 1982 by three classmates, bassist Andreas "Gerre" Geremia, guitarist Axel Katzmann and vocalist Frank Thorwarth.

Thorwarth and Gerre soon switched roles; at the same time the trio added drummer Oliver Werner and second guitarist Bernhard Rapprich.

With Tankard's previous album, The Morning After (1988), it featured a much more solid and imperfect production, though it was riddled with poor production, it turned out to make the album more extreme and memorable. It was a lot more catchier than 1987's Chemical Invasion album. Not long after it's release, the band made an improvement with their 5-track mini-LP, Alien. Alien consists with the same type of riffs and tunes as their Morning After album, but with a better production and master.
