Out of Our Heads is the Rolling Stones' third British studio album and their fourth in the United States. In the US, London Records released it on 30 July 1965 and it became the group's first number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. Decca Records released it in the UK on 24 September 1965, where it reached number two.
Complete your The Rolling Stones collection. There are many differing versions of this album, most notably: - the UK version doesn't include the corresponding singles, unlike its American counterpart, which was general practice in the early 1960s. As a result the US version omits various album tracks that the UK version includes. That's How Strong My Love Is.
In 1965, the Stones finally proved themselves capable of writing classic rock singles that mined their R&B/blues roots, but updated them into a more guitar-based, thoroughly contemporary context.
The Stones were still doing a lot of covers at this point ('That's How Strong My Love Is' being a real personal highlight), but the Jagger/Richards compositions were really starting to take shape on this album. The Last Time, Satisfaction, & Play With Fire are all absolutely essential Stones tracks. Please note, the UK version of this release has a substantially different track list with none of those 3 original songs mentioned above appearing on the album.
