Joey Ramone's second solo album. ya know? is a posthumous collection of demos and unreleased tunes that the Ramones singer recorded over the last 15 years of his life. The set may have been written and recorded at different times, but it's very cohesive, thanks to the rocker's distinct vision as a songwriter. The record will hit stores on May 22nd, but you can purchase it here. You can stream Joey Ramone's. In This Article: Joey Ramone, Ya Know.

The track isn't unlistenable by any means - you've gotta love a gang chorus - but not even the pick scrapes can't turn a rerun into something new. Rockabilly rhythms animate 'I Couldn't Sleep,' full of Ramone's signature "yeah-ahs" and "baby-babies . While some of these tracks are solid, they do not distinguish themselves from the vast Ramones catalog. Nothing about 'Ya Know?' feels necessary. Being that Ramone's legend has already been cemented, it needs no further filler- - which is, sadly, so much what ‘Ya Know?’ is. Filed Under: Joey Ramone.
Did "punk" offer a more loveable figure to posterity than Joey? Whatever your answer, it's always a pleasure to hear his nasal beluga wail, even from beyond the grave; even from within a production sound so, er, evolved from Tommy Erdelyi's no-fi blueprint. Still, the spirit is pretty faithful. We get big chugging ballads, slugging distortion-fests, big-gloomy-softie emotions; and we get Joan Jett, Steve Van Zandt and Lenny Kaye. Nothing you wouldn't expect.

If this were a Ramones album, all of these songs would be 2:05, not the 3:45s they keep creeping up to, extended with more and more chorus like bits of Meccano 'cuz Joey never learned to write intros or complex middle-eights. For instance, on "What Did I Do To Deserve You," Joey Ramone sings the words "What did I do to deserve you" so many times, it is perfectly legitimate to beat a small mammal to death with half a housebrick if this helps release the supercharge of annoyance the song engenders
Joey Ramone’s lyrics always belied the fast and furious pace of his group’s music, and so his many glances at the darker side of introspection (jealousy, murder, unrequited love) managed to slip under the radar. The relentless buzzsaw that Johnny and Dee Dee provided gives way to a monotonous mid-pace trundle that stop. a Know" from becoming anything special or memorable. Forget about the reckless, joyful abandon of classics like Rockaway Beach, Commando, Judy Is A Punk or Blitzkrieg Bop
ya know? Breathtaking and bittersweet: Joey’s crown jewel, a stunning coda to the Ramones’ sag. hen the Ramones finally wound down in 1996, after twenty-plus years as the hardest-working, least-lucky band in punk/rock, who could’ve foreseen the tragedy ahead? By 2004, Johnny, Joey, and Dee Dee were dead; ugly truths emerged in books and film; and in a typically cruel irony, their legacy in death far outstrips their modest, real-life success. The Ramones’ trail went truly cold. But here, after endless legal wrangling and some deft studio trickery (take a bow, Ed Stasium),.
