In August 2007 Toots & the Maytals released Light Your Light, which featured re-workings of older songs such as "Johnny Cool Man", as well as new material.

Although purists would never consider "Johnny Cool Man" funk, there's no denying there's a subtle funky flavor to this song, bubbling around the rough arrangement and The Maytals performance. The Dynamites laid down a surprisingly sparse backing for the number, fired by the sharply syncopated beats and percussion and counterpointed by the equally adamant riffs. Do the Reggae 1966-70.
