Produced by Peter York, 'Heirborne' features Richard's soothing electronic orchestrated soundtracks. This was the first album I recorded as a solo artist and the most personal. It's collection of melodies and textural moods were compiled over the course of several years. Much of it was written one note at a time into a funny little box called a Roland MSQ-700. It's a very visual and emotional album.

Richard Souther was the most successful artist on the that label, and rightfully so. Heirborne features almost flawless musical compositions, especially the title track. Keyboards that were state of the art in 1985 quickly became dated. Heirborne, nevertheless, is a worthy find of beautiful music. It would be even more beautiful if performed on acoustic instruments.

Richard Souther Music. Heirborne" was my "miracle album" from 1985. The Meadowlark label was just beginning. I had saved all these little ideas into a Roland MSQ-700 sequencer. Peter York asked if I wanted to be involved as a solo artist. I said, "well you know my back story. I had my dear friend Eric Persing to help me with the sound design and technical issues. We had Tim Pinch's remote 24 track recording truck pull up to my house. He ran audio lines to all the synths in my studio/garage. BTW: A little Casio CZ-101 played a big part the sound of Heirborne.

Richard Douglas Trowbridge Souther is an American keyboardist who played on several albums of contemporary Christian and chant-based music. He also placed an album in the Top 10 of Billboard's New Age Albums chart. In the mid to late 1970s, Souther was a member of A Band Called David, which supplied backing music for the vocal group the 2nd Chapter of Acts. In the mid 1980s, Souther recorded four albums for the newly established Meadowlark Records. Two of these-Heirborne (MLR 7004, 1985) and Innermission (MLR 7012, 1986)-were released under his own name. The other two-Songs Unspoken (MLR 7007, 1985) and Second Story (MLR 7016, 1987)-were released under the name Douglas Trowbridge (Souther's actual middle names). After recording with Meadowlark, Souther signed with Narada Equinox.
