Known as "the President's Own," the . Marine Band has played for every inauguration since Thomas Jefferson. Today they give 450 public performances each year, plus 200 more at the White House. I had another "Sousa's Greatest Hits" album (a different choice of "greatest" of course). That album was good, but it was period recordings, with a fair amount of background noise, plus the performances, while stirring, were not that crisp. Marine Band defines "crisp" - the playing is excellent, as you might expect from the Marine Corps. This is a good collection of Sousa's hits - not all-encompassing, but it is hard to quibble with the selections.
