The Fat Lady Sings were a rock band from Dublin, Ireland, fronted by singer and songwriter Nick Kelly. Almost immediately after forming in March 1986, they relocated to London, and remained there for the rest of their career. Despite this, they consistently enjoyed more media attention and commercial success in their native Ireland, with a series of five top 20 singles in 1990/91, than they did in the UK.

Lady is a compilation of songs from the band Styx's early recordings under the Wooden Nickel Records label. It is very similar to the contemporary Best of Styx compilation, consisting of the same tracks as that album (albeit in a different sequence) minus the song "Winner Take All", which does not appear on this album. The album was also issued with different artwork and a new subtitle, Lady:.

The Fat Lady was a portrait, who guarded the entrance to Gryffindor Tower at Hogwarts Castle. Next to nothing is known about her early life or what her name was when she was alive. She presumably was educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was Sorted into Gryffindor house.
