This was part of a charitative effort for a really inspiring initiative called the Holistic Life Foundation. This small grass roots organization from West Baltimore helps kids develop their inner lives through yoga, mindfulness, and self-care. In December, EDM producer Martyn dropped this nifty little gem, "Be My Own Pupil. He created it during the sessions for his new album, The Air Between Words, his third full-length album and the first since 2011's Ghost People. The Air Between Words is out June 16 on Ninja Tune, Martyn announced today. He says it stems from a discontent with mainstream dance music, a smoke-and-mirrors scene that doesn't allow individual creativity. Dutch ex-pat Martyn has inked a deal with UK underground outpost Ninja Tune, and his third album is already complete. Entitled The Air Between Words, the record comes three years after Brainfeeder’s crunchy Ghost People and is billed as an entirely new sonic direction. Sadly there are few other clues as to where the DC-based producer could have taken his sound, but we do have a full tracklist, which reveals collaborations with Four Tet (who we’re guessing rarely leaves the studio at this point) and ex-Hype Williams knob twiddler/singer Inga Copeland (aka copeland)

Martyn subsequently described this period as 'very happy'. In September 1975 he released a live album, Live at Leeds - Martyn had been unable to persuade Island to release the record, and resorted to selling individually signed copies by mail from home. Live at Leeds features Danny Thompson and drummer John Stevens. In 2010 a 2CD Deluxe version of Live at Leeds was released, and it was discovered that not all of the songs on the original album were from the Leeds concert. After releasing Live at Leeds, Martyn took a sabbatical, including a visit to Jamaica, spending time with reggae. I was hardly in control of my own actions. The reason they finally released it was because I freaked: Please get it out! I don't give a damn about how sad it makes you feel-it's what I'm about: the direct communication of emotion.
