Swing is the fifteenth studio album by Australian soul and R&B singer Renée Geyer. Geyer told The Sydney Morning Herald that Swing was inspired by Frank Sinatra's 1966 recording with Count Basie in Las Vegas, an album she had long admired. But it took the success of Michael Buble to convince her that she should lend her distinctive voice to a big-band album.

Harold Joseph "Hal" Singer (born 8 October 1919), also known as Hal "Cornbread" Singer, is an American rhythm & blues and jazz bandleader and saxophonist. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Singer studied violin as a child but, as a teenager, switched to clarinet and then tenor saxophone, which became his instrument of choice. From the late 1930s he began playing in local bands, including Ernie Fields', before joining Jay McShann's orchestra in 1943 and then moving to New York.

Some songs simply had hip-hop beats, others had rapped sections and sung choruses, but the overall result was an edgier, more street-oriented sound that seamlessly blended both the melodic qualities of soul and the funky rhythms of rap. It paved the way for the '90s soul, where the dividing line between rap and R&B was frequently indistinguishable.
