Air Mail Special, a reissue CD put out in 1990, has seven of the eight songs originally on Palo Alto's Jazz Party/First Time Together and three numbers from the Tall Trees release Now's The Time. Since both of those labels are extinct, this was a welcome reissue although it would have been preferable to have the two original sets intact. Vibraphonist Terry Gibbs and clarinetist Buddy DeFranco always made for a compatible and mutually inspiring team. Every tune of theirs seems to end up being uptempo or at least doubletime with the vibraphonist constantly pushing the clarinetist.

Children of God is the fifth studio album by American experimental rock band Swans. It was released on October 19, 1987, through record label Caroline. The album marks a change in direction from Swans' early work. More tracks utilize acoustic guitars and more melodic vocals. The lyrics also focus more prominently on religious themes.

Back in 2014, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib released their joint album, Pinata. The two made up an unforeseen combination that created one of the most hip-hop albums of the decade. Five years later, and the two were back at it again with Bandana. But the project itself was created under dire circumstances. They fuck with me. First off, congratulations on Bandana. I’ve been looking forward to it since you dropped Piñata. I was picking the beat switches because they were at places where I wanted to shift gears on the album. I wrote this album with an intention of not ever rapping again because I thought I was gonna go to jail for ten years for that stupid shit. I was like Alright, I gotta step outside myself and analyze myself, because I was going through a lot of pain at that time. I had to be like Damn, what are you really doing?
