Deadlines is a music studio album recording by STRAWBS (Prog Folk/Progressive Rock) released in 1978 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. People really enjoyed knocking the Strawbs by the time this album was released. Deadlines is not a bad album.

Though their sound is marginally improved over their previous album, by this release they both failed to gain new fans and had long lost their old ones, and their subsequent dissolution was unsurprising. The vultures are already circling over the opening track: despite a reasonably catchy tune, "No Return" is badly marred by Cousins' shockingly hoarse vocals.

Strawbs is the debut studio album by English band Strawbs. The Sandy Denny & The Strawbs LP All Our Own Work released in Denmark is generally not counted. Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century album sales have mostly focused on compact disc and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used from the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl, an album may be recorded in a recording studio, in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places.

For most hardcore Strawbs fans, this album remains a perennial let-down. Strawbs were no stranger to this latter dilemma. Deadlines" can be described as full of sound & fury signifying nothing; a loud, lumbering set weighed down by bombastic production, overdub nightmares and poor songwriting. And yet, this 2012 remastering has made me fall in love (perhaps for the first time ever) with the album. Real heft and drama have been "added" to these songs, the bottom solid, the spacing and instrumentation given newfound clarity and context throughout.
