EMI Studios, Abbey Road, 9 May 1966 The Beatles recorded 10 takes of the backing track for Paul McCartney's song For No One on this day, in a short session.
The Beatles’ 10 Greatest Concerts. Celebrated in pretty much every other way, the Fab Four have always been underrated as a live band. These gigs show just how powerful they could be onstage. 3. Palais de Sports; Paris, France; June 20th, 1965 The one and only time the Beatles performed an encore after they became famous was at this Parisian evening gig. The Beatles hadn’t gone over well in Paris the year before; this is the sound of a proper conquering, after a failed first attempt.
Absolutely the best Beatles album with Abbey road coming up for second. Great hits like 'A Day In The Life', and other great hits although I love every Beatles album nothing even comes close to Sgt. Peppers. My grandmother showed me this album and we listened to it while painting the walls and since then I was hooked. It's the height of all their musical talents and songwriting abilities. They worked for years perfecting their individual crafts and their sound as a group. George's best songs are on this album and the medley is the greatest work created by both Lennon and McCartney. This may not be as iconic as Peppers but it's a beautiful, magical, and rare piece of work. Unlike their other albums, this album lacks flaws.
With The Beatles shot to No. 1 in the Britain replacing Please Please Me and remained there for 21 of the 51 weeks it spent in the Top Twenty. The Making Of With The Beatles.
The Beatles released 13 albums during their seven-year recording career. And almost every single one of them is a masterpiece. So what we're basically saying is, you really can't go wrong with any of the Beatles' albums (well, maybe one or two.
Beatles For Sale (1964). Who could blame the Beatles for putting out a mediocre offering in the middle of the insanity that was Beatlemania, when the young group was under the white-hot spotlight of fame seemingly 24/7? This was an album that gathered dust for me growing up. Maybe it was all the country music influences or the darker tone on certain songs. But when I came back to it later as an adult, I realized the opening trio - No Reply, I’m a Loser, Baby’s in Black - was so much deeper than I had realized.
It was 50 years ago today: The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an album of profound significance in the arc of modern music. On the most basic level, this was yet another batch of amazing Beatles songs in a career full of them, but its impact on music history is much deeper than that. Sgt. Pepper solidified the LP as not just a collection of singles and filler but a full-length creative statement. It popularized concept albums in the mass consciousness. It redefined the possibilities for rock-star metamorphosis.
