New York Philharmonic Orchestra Brahms: Hungarian Dance No. 1 in G Minor. Brahms - Bruno Walter - NY Philharmonic Orchestra Symphony N. in C minor, Op. 68 - I. Un poco sostenuto, allegro (1). (play). Нью-Йоркский Филармонический оркестр, Бруно Вальтер Брамс - Симфония №1 До минор o. 8 I. Un poco sostenuto, allegro (2). 68 - IV. Finale. 68 - III. Un poco allegretto e grazioso. Bruno Walter, Berliner Philharmoniker, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus Schicksalslied, Op. 54: "Ihr Wandelt Droben Im Licht", Langsam Und Sehnsuchtsvoll - Allegro - Adagio (Brahms).

Their substance and style bespeak maturity no less than the monumental finale created to trump them. There an ominous preface in C minor leads to a C major Allegro non troppo ma con brio (not too quickly but spiritedly), which remains in 4/4 time until a climactic alla-breve acceleration into the coda. Brahms' decade of residence in Vienna had smoothed as well as ripened him: the middle movements could be called Schubertian, by way of Schumann. The finale, however, pays homage to the Germany's Baroque masters: Scheidt, Froberger, Buxtehude, Bach, and expatriated Handel.

Symphony No. 68, is a symphony written by Johannes Brahms. Brahms spent at least fourteen years completing this work, whose sketches date from 1854. Brahms himself declared that the symphony, from sketches to finishing touches, took 21 years, from 1855 to 1876. The premiere of this symphony, conducted by the composer's friend Felix Otto Dessoff, occurred on 4 November 1876, in Karlsruhe, then in the Grand Duchy of Baden. A typical performance lasts between 45 and 50 minutes.

68, orchestral work by German composer Johannes Brahms that, with its lyricism and thematic unity, is widely regarded as one of the greatest symphonies of the Austro-German tradition. Nearly 20 years in the making, the composition premiered on November 4, 1876, in Karlsruhe, Germany. Initially a pianist, Brahms became interested in composition and began working on his first symphony in the early 1860s. By the time he finished the piece, in September 1876, he had been living for more than a decade in Vienna, where Beethoven had produced many of his greatest works. That performance went rather well, with the only discouraging words coming from Brahms himself, who described the new symphony as long and not especially amiable. Brahms then scheduled a Vienna performance, and it was on that occasion that the Beethoven parallels at last emerged.
