Ultravox! is the eponymous debut studio album by British new wave band Ultravox!. It was recorded at Island Studios in Hammersmith, London in the autumn of 1976 and produced by Ultravox! and Steve Lillywhite with studio assistance from Brian Eno. It was released on 25 February 1977 by Island. The songs "Sat'day Night in the City of the Dead" and "Dangerous Rhythm", alongside other songs from the album, were written while the band were named Tiger Lily.

By the time this album was recorded (1993) Ultravox was reduced to Billie Currie and friends. However Sam Blue does an excellent Midge Ure impression, when required, and Vinnie Burns is great with the over-the-top guitar solo. The only songs of the well known Ultravox period which don't work as well as I'd like are Reap The Wild Wind (which I've always thought needs two vocalists) and Hymn. Ultravox - Quartet (1982). Ultravox (formerly Ultravox!) have been one of the primary exponents of the British new wave synthpop music movement since the late 70s. The band is particularly associated with the New Romantic scene, although it both pre- and post-dated the peak of that movement by several years. Known for popular hits such as "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" and "Vienna" among many others, the band has drawn inspiration variously from dark, moody post-punk, the artier side of glam rock, and latterly straightforward synthpop.
