In April 2011, Bristol Archive Records released its very first compilation set entitled The Bristol Reggae Explosion 1978 – 1983, a more than decent collection of tunes that documented the local Bristol reggae scene from the late seventies until the early eighties. Following the critical and commercial success of that album, the label dug even deeper into the city’s reggae heritage for the follow-up, Bristol Reggae Explosion Volume 2 – The 80’s, which was released later that year.
