Christine Weidinger (born March 31, 1946) is an American operatic soprano who has had an active international career in operas and concerts since the early 1970s. Her career started at the Metropolitan Opera, after which she was active as a resident artist with opera houses in Germany during the late 1970s and 1980s. From this small German house she attracted international attention in such roles as Lucia di Lammermoor, Elisabetta in "Roberto Devereux", Norma, Amina in "La sonnambula" and Violetta in "La traviata". Marilyn Horne, Cecilia Gasdia, Christine Weidinger, Ernesto Palacio, Natale de Carolis. John Fisher, Orchestra of La Fenice. Live recording from June 1989 which was first released in 1992 and re-issued in 2009.

On 5 July 2013, John Fisher was invested with an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In June, 2015, Fisher was a member of the jury for the 15th Tchaikovsky International Competition (Voice Category) in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

St Julien, Gregg Smith, Johannes Somary, Vern Sutton, Phyllis Treigle, Christine Weidinger, Jayne West, and Eugenia Zukerman. Plácido Domingo discography.

The rest of the cast is at least adequate, and Cecilia Gasdia stands out as Almirena, singing with lovely tone. John Fisher leads Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in a lively and engaging reading of the score. Horne's fans may want to check out her 1982 recording of the opera on Ponto, made when she was securely in her prime; there is no comparison between that gripping performance and this one. It also has a superlative supporting cast, including Benita Valente, Samuel Ramey, and John Alexander. It's still cut, but not quite as badly as this version.
