Their debut album, 1996's Realms 'N Reality, was filled with dank imagery and beats. The Last Shall Be First is in the same vein; however, the group seems to have taken their lyrical flow up a notch. Their improved flow can best be heard on "On the Run," a densely packed, well-told narrative. Also impressive is "Main Aim," a banging horn-filled track first featured on the soundtrack to the film Soul in the Hole.
