Gladys Knight & The Pips were a soul and rnb family musical act from Atlanta, Georgia, United States, active from 1953 to 1989. The group is best known for their string of hit singles on Motown's 'Soul' record label and Buddah Records from 1967 to 1975, including the songs "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" (1967) and "Midnight Train to Georgia" (1973).

Neither One of Us is an album recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips, released in early 1973 (see 1973 in music) by Motown Records on the Soul Records label. The label released the album shortly after the group left the label for Buddah Records while the title track was rising up the charts. That song eventually peaked at on the US Pop Charts, and reached the top spot on the R&B Charts. Motown issued another single, "Daddy Could Swear, I Declare", in April of the year

Gladys Knight & the Pips were an R&B/soul family musical act from Atlanta, Georgia that remained active on the music charts and performing circuit for three decades. Starting out as simply The Pips in 1952, derived from a cousin's nickname, the founding members were Gladys Knight, brother Merald "Bubba" Knight, sister Brenda Knight and cousins Eleanor and William Guest. After a couple of years performing in talent shows, the group signed with Brunswick Records in 1957, recording a couple of singles that failed to chart  .
