This record is a gem in danish music. It really shows of Bjørn Svin's natural talent for making really good experimental and melodic techno/house. It has an optimistic vibe and absolutly wonderful tunes. A track like "Søde"(Sweet/Sweety in english) just builds up and becomes - perfect! Søde is today considered a classic tune in danish techno. My personal favorite tune is "101 engle" (101 angels) a track born from fustration and into all those angels made out of a Roland SH 101. The whole album is really put great together and is worth listening to for everybody that has an interest in artists like Aphex Twin, Kristian Vogel and Orlando Voorn.

dubdotcomI'm still playing Søde nearly 11 years later and everyone always asks what that track is. Great build up and execution. Classic.Cool. I wish I owned a copy of "Benene På Nakken" on vinyl, and I'm not even an EDM DJ. I am however a D&B/dubstep/triphop/hiphop/IDM/whatever beatmaker. The (little) DJ skills I have I use for mixing elements from completely different vinyl records, combining them into new works. Nothing special about that. Many beatmakers do it, but it's a very fulfilling artform when you get a guitar, a sax, a piano, a low pass filtered bass, etc. all from different records with different BPM's, amount of bars, pitch and root note to sit together in one song in tune...I'm definitely a Bjørn Scintillation fan, but I'm not sure how much he samples old works. I guess he uses the 101 and the 303... maybe has a 909 and some cool analog synths... if he hasn't gone 100% digital by now (though I'd doubt it). Oh yeah, actually the "Bowen" record I think contains samplings from classical music. Or maybe he's just collaborating with a classical orchestre supplying the more beat-orientated part of the album... or something. I need to check it out.I used to have two "Benene På Nakken " CDs but I gave ne of them away to my big brother who is the who sparkled my interest in electronic music at a very young age. So now I own one and a CD copy "Kan Tropisk" (does a vinyl version exist?) which is an interesting album, which I still don't understand today...:To me, Mr. Svin has a commercial side (Mer' Strøm, etc.) and then his other less accessible, Devilish, playful artistic side that couldn't care less if the listener gets lost. Would this be a fair interpretation? And if so, what would you, as a DJ, say are his most commercial/mainstream songs loved by audiences? You've already mentioned Søde...To everyone: there are currently no active sales of the "Benene På Nakken" 2xLP - but, should you have an extra copy laying around or maybe you just hate the album, then I'd very much love to buy it. Same goes for "Kan Tropisk" should a vinyl version excist. I'd be happy to throw CD version on top of price, if you, the seller, wish to keep a copy in some format.Enough ramblings! BPN is a dope, fun album which I imagine would quintessential listening in the weekend for MDMA heads! :-)(I enjoy it even without drugs! LOL!)
