Millikin University Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Under the direction of Dr. Gary Shaw, the Millikin University Symphonic Wind Ensemble offers an unparalleled experience in musicianship. Frequent guest conductors and soloists have visited the Millikin University campus to perform with students in the band program. The Millikin Wind Ensemble has participated in several new composition consortium with other universities. Composers involved in these new pieces for wind ensemble include David Maslanka, David Gillingham, John Mackey, Scott Ninmer, John Stevens, Michael Schelle, Joseph Schwantner and Libby Larsen.

The University of Illinois Concert Jazz Band under the direction of Professor McNeill has been invited to past IAJE performances in NYC and Montreal, numerous jazz festival performances including The North Texas Jazz Festival (where they won the Dr. Gene Hall award for best big band), The Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, The Elmhurst Jazz Festival and the Northern Colorado Jazz. Festival to name a few. Other Significant Past performances include the the Mobile Jazz Festival, the Intercollegiate Jazz Festival at St. Louis, The Millikin Jazz Festival and The Purdue Jazz Festival

In 1981 the Music Department at Fullerton College built a 16 track in house recording facility which was to serve as a teaching tool for both student music groups and students wanting to take recording technology classes at a vocational level

The Bucknell University Jazz Band offers students of all majors and academic interests the opportunity to experience modern and historically important literature in a traditional big band environment. Under the direction of Barry Long, performances both on and off campus throughout the year build upon focused ensemble rehearsal and concepts of improvisation. In collaboration with the Jazznell series and the Weis Center for the Performing Arts, the graduating class of 2017 will have had the opportunity to hear and work with: Jason Moran, Maria Schneider, Lee Konitz, Donny McCaslin, Fred Hersch, Mary Halvorson, Tomas Fujiwara, Michael Formanek, Ambrose Akinmusire, Rudresh Mahanthappa, The Bad Plus, Lonnie Smith, Marquis Hill, Matt Mitchell, Craig Taborn, Kris Davis
