Panic Prevention is the Mercury Prize nominated debut album by Wimbledon-born singer-songwriter Jamie T, released in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2007. The album is so-called because of the panic attacks Jamie suffered as an adolescent. Most of the songs on the album deal with aspects of modern 'youth' culture in the UK (for example binge drinking), and as such has been strongly compared to the works of The Streets, Lily Allen and The Libertines.

It also focused on overcoming personal problems that are easily picked up at a young age. Panic attacks are touched on in the albums title and in So Lonely Was The Ballad. Drugs, alcohol and sex are referenced constantly throughout. The dangers of alcoholism are the subject of the song Sheila.

Album · 2007 · 15 Songs. Panic Prevention distills the scrappy essence of being young in London like few other albums, tying together hints of hip-hop, jungle, ska-punk, pirate radio, and good old indie with Jamie Treays’ slang-littered vocal and wonky, acoustic bass rhythms. His eye for both the glory and the gore of big-city life is unparalleled: Calm Down Dearest captures the thrill of a big night out, while a song like Sheila is an empathetic portrait of the tragic figures you’ll encounter on the way. Panic Prevention Jamie T.

Includes voucher for MP3 album download. Small sticker bottom left of front cover reads - "Features the singles Calm Down Dearest, If You Got The Money & Sheila" - followed by in small black print 094637885512. Below this a PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT sticker.

Jamie T, Panic Prevention. There are not one but two singles by British artists you could loosely describe as MCs: Jamie T at nine and Just Jack at two. Admittedly, both cleave not to the US rap template, but to the rather broader musical model introduced by the Streets. None the less, it seems indicative of a shift in public attitude. On the second Libertines album, Pete Doherty boggled aloud at the phenomenon of "white kids talking like they're black". You wonder how he might react to Treays, whose vocal style combines the faux-patois expertly mocked by Catherine Tate's am-I-bovvered? character with Doherty's own slurred post-crack mewl. It's a difficult voice to love, and it makes Panic Prevention's stylistic leaps from skiffle to ska to drum'n'bass a slog.

Very good mastering job on an absolute great pressing on heavy vinyl.

The recent sales on this release relate to the 2018 reissue, out of interest does discogs adjust this or do you have to wait for it to normalise over time?
Phenade Phenade
Sadly Discogs isn't interested in this problem of users selling reissues under the original pressing submission. Although clearly this conflicts with the algorithms for the average price.

I’ve heard this is being re-issued on the 16th February this year(2018) anyone know if this is correct?

Cool story which i found online, If u look at images then scroll down to the promo card pics with the square box round it. U'll see that the record in question is an ELVIS record!!! Yet on the officially released front image was a copy of the panic prevention (vinyl version with the elvis head missing). From what i read the promo card copys where set for shop windows and had not been edited fully, ie they were half ready and due to album being out a few weeks later they just printed the cards and went ahead on the hope no one will notice. Once the album was ready for general sale they had already super imposed an image of the same cover in place of the Elvis record/image! just thought id share that with everyone!
