Lucio Battisti biography Lucio BATTISTI (1943 - 1998) was one of Italy's premier songwriters and composers for decades and a formidable influence on his contemporaries in Italy. A reserved, non-conformist artist with strong ideals of artistic freedom, he took part in forming Italy's first independent record label, Numero Uno, in 1969.
